Abstract: This programme of study documents the implementation of an alternative teaching approach informed by contemporary learning theory, the Constraints Led Approach, within the QUT Physical Education Teacher Education course. The findings have contributed important practical implications for physical education teacher education, potentially resulting in an evolution of teaching practice compatible with the development of skilled, motivated learners. The study findings are being integrated into the QUT Physical Education Teacher Education programme with a view to improving pedagogical practice in schools.
